Starting with a title like that might not seem all too empowering, I get it. You are already getting up extra early to learn about the thousand different topics you need to know, including building your brand, and now this random woman on the internet is going to tell you that you are making costly mistakes?
No thanks! But please hear me out.

Your brand voice is more important than you might be thinking and it is not something to overlook. When the voice of your brand is unclear, your audience will feel confused on what they can expect from you. It can feel hard for them to place you and they might misjudge who you are and what your brand is all about completely.
Think about it this way;
If you would read a script to a TV series, and all the characters had the same line, how would they each sound individually? Probably very different from the rest – and that’s exactly what you want.
Now think about you as a brand, what makes you different? How would you describe your brand voice?
Maybe you would use words such as;
A well established brand voice can help you gain a huge advantage on your competition.
I am all for being focused on the nitty gritty work in order to make something perfect – but not when it comes to your brand vision. This is for thinking big and dreaming even bigger.
Your brand purpose is (or should be) bigger than you and that is the energy you want to tap into. How do you see your brand in 10 years? What are people saying about you? What difference do you want to make in the lives of your audience?
Your brand vision is a key part within your brand strategy and you don’t want to skip past this.
So let’s push aside those limiting beliefs and start thinking like a true CEO of your brand, because you are. Describe your future dream brand as if there are no limits, and start showing up to make this vision come to life more and more each day.
Not tomorrow, not next week (I know you like to wait until “the perfect moment”), actually start today.
How often do you find yourself doing “research” but you’re actually just scrolling, in awe of everything your competition is doing? (no judgement, we’ve all done this)
Here’s the thing, you know it’s wasted time trying to see if the grass is greener on the other side – I know you know this.
Even when you’re not stalking that seemingly overnight success on Instagram, it’s likely that you’re still too caught up in the competition when you’re creating content for your own brand.
Well, you might write it off as a creative block but I think you’re just not clear on your own brand enough. You need to be so clear and have such an “I know my brand inside and out” feeling about your work that the competition automatically becomes blurry. You won’t even have to try anymore because it won’t relate to what you are doing, right?
I challenge you to bring the focus fully back to yourself and watch your personal brand blossom.
You know your personal brand should be about you, but, it shouldn’t be ALL about you.
A common mistake I see is that people get really comfortable with being themselves online (which is good!) that they start overcompensating in personal content what they lack in audience focused content.
What I mean is, although your personal brand is you, you are showing up for your audience. They are the demand, and frankly, you won’t get very far without this demand.
Your audience deserves to be top of mind in everything you do in your business – they should be a key part in your brand strategy. Take a look at how you are currently showing up and see if your balance might be off, if it is, let’s change that! There is no better day to start fresh than today, you got this.
As much as you need to be strategic about branding, you also need to relax a little and have fun with it! Especially when it comes to personal branding. Remember that this is all about you and you showing up honestly and authentically. You won’t find out what you need to improve if you never start trying. So get over it and get visible, your audience is waiting for you.
